CASE STUDY

SAM'S BRANCH WATER RECLAMATION FACILITY

Thalle Construction Company is serving as General Contractor for the $180.6 million Sam’s Branch Water Reclamation Facility in Clayton, North Carolina—the largest capital project in the town’s history. The greenfield facility will provide an initial capacity of 6 million gallons per day (MGD), with future expansion to 10 MGD.

Thalle’s scope includes all major phases: surveying, vegetation removal, earthwork, utility installation, concrete foundations, structural components, electrical systems, building construction, and final site restoration. Key structural elements include the Bioreactor, Influent Pump Station, and Headworks Building—all involving mat slabs, walls, columns, and elevated concrete slabs. Four brick façade buildings totaling over 31,000 square feet are also under construction.

Additional work includes structural steel canopies for process areas, full mechanical and electrical system installations, and equipment for chemical storage, UV disinfection, thickening/dewatering, RAS/WAS systems, and sludge handling. Despite the project's complexity and aggressive schedule, Thalle continues to meet milestones, supported by a skilled team and strong subcontractor coordination.
