ROLLER COMPACTED CONCRETE
ROLLER COMPACTED CONCRETE SOLUTIONS BUILT FOR PERFORMANCE AND SPEED
Thalle Construction Company is a national leader in Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC) construction, delivering fast-track, high-volume solutions for dams, spillways, pavements, and heavy-civil water infrastructure. RCC projects demand precision batching, continuous placement, and tightly controlled compaction—all executed with zero margin for error. Our teams bring decades of experience, specialized equipment, and the field-tested processes required to place millions of cubic yards with consistency, efficiency, and exceptional quality. We excel in complex sites, aggressive schedules, and mission-critical scopes where durability, speed, and cost-efficiency are essential.
Whether stabilizing a dam, rebuilding a spillway, or constructing large industrial pavements, Thalle provides RCC solutions engineered for long-term reliability and superior structural performance. We integrate geotechnical expertise, advanced mix design capabilities, and rigorous QA/QC programs to ensure every lift, layer, and joint meets the highest standards. Backed by transparent project management and a commitment to safety, we deliver RCC structures that reduce construction time, minimize costs, and outperform traditional concrete systems—strengthening the infrastructure communities depend on for decades to come.

CASE STUDY
HICKORY LOG DAM, PHASE 2
While already on site completing the dam foundation under a Phase 1 contract, Thalle was awarded Phase 2 of the Hickory Log Creek Dam project. At 180 feet high and 956 long, Hickory Log Creek Dam is the tallest roller compacted concrete (RCC) dam in Georgia and the fourth highest in North America. The dam now provides approximately 44 million gallons of water a day for the growing population of northeast Atlanta, Georgia.
A total of 218,000 cubic yards of RCC were placed in 117 days at Hickory Log Creek Dam. A pumping station was constructed about 7,000 feet below the dam on the Etowah River to supplement the inflows into the resulting 411-acre Hickory Log Creek Reservoir. Whenever inflow from Hickory Log Creek is insufficient to fill the reservoir, this station pumps additional water from the Etowah River. After its initial filling, the pump station is only used to refill reservoir water that has been lost due to drought conditions. The reservoir began filling in November 2007.
Construction of COP concrete for training walls, stilling basin, slab and chute blocks, and OGEE Spillway Weir Crest, earthen backfill, erosion and sediment control measures, clearing of approximately 390 acre reservoir, access roads, installation of gates, valves, piping, precast facing panels with membrane, a pedestrian bridge, and final site restoration.
