Yonkers Waterfront Development Phase I Yonkers, New York
The City of Yonkers undertook a revitalization program to use its shoreline on the Hudson River and awarded Phase I of this project to Thalle Construction. The site contained abandoned facilities and illegally dumped materials which Thalle was required to remediate. The project entailed developing two city blocks which included installation of a bulkhead, utility installation, street and sidewalk construction, site lighting and extensive masonary work. Thalle used portable crushers and screeners to utilize on site material and decrease truck traffic through the surrounding area. One of the highlights of the project was construction of an amphitheatre over the Hudson River.
General Foods Corporate Headquarters Rye, New York
Thalle Construction performed all general excavation and site work for this award-winning design by Architects Kevin Roche and John Dinkeloo. Because the site was situated on wetlands, the project required extensive dewatering. Existing wetlands at the site were replaced with 20,000 cubic yards of foundation and superstructure concrete. To help create an aesthetically pleasing environment for General Foods, Thalle created a man-made lake by expanding the wetlands at the site.
