At the Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport, Thalle installed 2,200 feet of cast-in-place box culvert and 1,500 feet of 84 inch diameter storm drain in preparation for the construction of the 5th runway. The project required extensive excavation & embankment, lift stations, river diversions and extensive sediment pond construction and full time turbidity monitoring. The box culvert was installed on caisson and pile foundations. Thalle redesigned sections of the caisson supported culvert to be supported by piles to expedite construction process.
Kerr Lake Regional Water Raw Water Facilities
Henderson, North Carolina
For the City of Henderson, Thalle installed a new raw water intake line to the existing water facility which services 50,000 customers. The project called for the installation of 2,700 feet of 24 inch DIP and 200 feet of 36” PCCP which was installed beneath 40 feet of water in Kerr Lake. The project also called for the installation of three new raw water pumps and the associated mechanical piping. Also included in the project was a new high service pump and variable frequency drive, a new emergency generator, various electrical improvements, and associated HVAC improvements.
McMeekin Station Modifications at Saluda Dam
Columbia, South Carolina
In preparation for the Saluda Dam remediation project, South Carolina Electric & Gas contracted with Thalle to redevelop the existing power plant facilities. The project called for more than 150,000 cubic yards of excavation, relocation of existing utilities, large diameter pipe installation and extensive concrete construction. The project also called for installation a dry ash handling system and relocation of existing ash ponds.
